Giordana Patumi is a dancer, performing arts administrator, dance writer, and Pilates instructor based in Zürich, Switzerland.

Born in Perugia, Italy, she began her training in ballet, contemporary, modern, jazz, and hip-hop. Alongside dance, she played the violin both as a soloist and as part of orchestras for over twelve years, and also attended drama classes throughout her youth.

After completing her high school diploma, she was accepted into the professional one-year programme at the Copenhagen Contemporary Dance School in Denmark, where she explored a variety of styles and techniques including Bournonville ballet, flying low, floorwork, gaga, Batsheva repertoire, and contact improvisation.

She later moved to London, completing her BA in Contemporary Dance with First Class Honours at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. During her studies, she trained with an international faculty and regularly attended masterclasses across Europe with artists such as David Zambrano, Emanuel Gat, Sadé Alleyne (Akram Khan), Natalia Iwaniec, and Tomislav English (Ultima Vez). She performed a re-creation of Emanuel Gat’s Sunny, excerpts of Hofesh Shechter’s Sun, and commissioned works by Heidi Rustgaard, Rahel Vonmoos, and Zoi Dimitriou.

Giordana developed a growing interest in the “behind the scenes” work that makes performances possible. She pursued a First Level Master’s Diploma in Performing Arts Management at MIP Politecnico di Milano and Accademia Teatro alla Scala, deepening her knowledge of promoting stage arts as an essential social, political, and economic asset. As part of her Master, she moved to New York City to intern at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in the production and development department. While in NYC, she continued her training at the Ailey School and took regular classes at the Cunningham Trust, Trisha Brown Company, Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance, and Klein Technique.

During the pandemic, she completed her master’s thesis on the need for dedicated spaces for dance, focusing on the new Dance House Helsinki (Tanssin talo). Between July and September 2020, she curated a movie and music festival in her hometown, welcoming up to 26,000 attendees while maintaining COVID-19 safety measures and creating a welcoming atmosphere.

Her diverse professional path includes working as artist manager for Italian pianist and composer Maurizio Mastrini, team member of DNA Dance Company, collaborator with HOME | Choreographic Creation Center (Perugia), production assistant and dramaturg consultant for EREM Dance (Delémont, Switzerland), marketing coordinator for Earthdance (Plainfield, MA, USA), and social media and marketing advisor for various performing arts organisations across Europe and the US.

From 2021 to 2024, she worked in the General Management and Development/Special Projects department at Fondazione Nazionale della Danza/Aterballetto, supporting grant writing and the implementation of Italy’s newly nominated National Choreographic Dance Center.
After relocating to Switzerland, she joined Associazione Veicolo Danza as strategic implementation advisor, became communication and organisation manager for Ticino in Danza Festival, and joined the communication and production teams at Teatro Danzabile and ORME Festival (Lugano, CH). In early 2024, she began collaborating as International Project Manager with the Sweden-based production body ilDance.

In 2025, she was invited as Producer at the International Breakthrough Festival in Zürich and continues working with the independent dance scene in Switzerland. In the same year, she was awarded the TRIP Jones VPA END Scholarship to pursue her MA in Dance Studies at Texas Tech University, further expanding her academic and research practice.
